LIVIN.ROOM Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 August 2026
Livin.Room LLC, an Arizona limited liability company, operates LIVIN.ROOM. LIVIN.ROOM helps people find platonic friends, chat after a mutual I’d hang, and meet in person — one on one or in member-hosted Rooms. Automated features and AI (Roomie)
What Roomie is. The LIVIN.ROOM support chat is answered by Roomie, our automated assistant. Roomie is software, not a person. It says so if you ask, and you can reach a human at any time by saying “talk to the team” in that chat — a member of our team then picks up the same thread.
Where automation is and is not used. Roomie only operates in the LIVIN.ROOM support chat. Messages between members are always written by real people; we do not generate, rewrite, or suggest member-to-member messages, profiles, prompts, or photos. Verification selfies are reviewed by a person on our team, not by software.
What Roomie can see. To answer accurately, Roomie may read your own account state — your verification status, profile completeness, connection and friend-request counts, upcoming events you can see, and the recent messages in your support thread. It cannot read your private chats with other members.
When your message leaves our systems. Most answers are produced on your device or from our own database and are never sent anywhere else. For questions our own rules do not cover, the text of your support-chat message, your first name, your verification status, your city, and the recent support-thread history may be sent to OpenAI, which generates a reply and returns it. OpenAI acts as our processor for that request. Your message is not used to train any model, and we do not send your email, phone number, date of birth, precise location, photos, or member-to-member messages.
Crisis situations. If a message mentions suicide or self-harm, the app responds immediately with crisis-line information (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and Crisis Text Line at 741741), flags the thread for a person on our team, and does not attempt to counsel you. That response is fixed text, not generated, and that message is not sent to any AI provider. The full list is in the app under Settings → Crisis Hotlines. Roomie is not a crisis service, a counselor, or a medical or mental-health provider.
No automated decisions about you. Roomie does not decide whether you are verified, approved, suspended, or removed. Those decisions are made by people on our team.
Third-party services
We use the following processors to run LIVIN.ROOM. Each receives only the data needed for its purpose:
| Service | Data exchanged | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Profile, messages, media, authentication tokens | Core app operation (database, auth, file storage) |
| Apple / Google Sign-In | Authentication tokens; email (depending on provider settings) | Sign-in |
| BigDataCloud | Latitude and longitude (converted to city name) | Onboarding location label |
| QR Server (api.qrserver.com) | Event check-in payload embedded in QR code URL | Display check-in QR on event pages |
| FormSubmit | Feedback message; optional email and name | Support message relay |
| Sentry | Crash and error events, app version (when enabled) | Diagnostics and stability |
| OpenAI | Support-chat message text, first name, verification status, city, recent support-thread history (only for questions our own rules do not answer) | Generating a support reply in the Roomie chat; not used for model training |
| PostHog | On the website: pages viewed, referrer, approximate country/region from IP address, browser and device type, an analytics cookie or identifier. In the app: which screens you open, and that a message, RSVP or room join happened — with your account identifier, never the content | Product and website analytics; not used for advertising and never sold |
| Expo push service | Expo push token | Notification delivery |
Website analytics and cookies
Our marketing website (enterlivinroom.com) uses PostHog to count page views and understand which pages people find useful. This is aggregate product analytics, not advertising, and we do not sell this data or use it to build advertising profiles. PostHog sets a first-party identifier so repeat visits are not counted twice. You can prevent it entirely by using your browser’s tracking protection or a content blocker; nothing on the site depends on it.
Product analytics in the app
The LIVIN.ROOM app also sends a small set of product analytics events to PostHog, so we can see where people get stuck — for example, which onboarding step is where most people stop. What is sent is deliberately narrow: the name of the screen you opened, and the fact that an action happened (a message was sent, an RSVP was set, a room was joined), together with your account identifier and your platform.
What is never sent: the text of your messages, your prompt answers, your name, your email, your phone number, your photos, your date of birth or your location. The app strips anything that is not a short, non-identifying value before it leaves your phone. We do not use analytics for advertising, we do not sell it, and no third party other than PostHog receives it.
Stored on your device only
The following data stays on your phone and is not uploaded to our servers:
- Signup draft and onboarding progress flags
- Chat mute preferences and event check-in fallback codes
- Story cache and feature announcement preferences
- Authentication OTP throttle state
Contacts
If you use Invite Friends, the app may access your contacts only to let you pick one person to invite. We do not upload your contact list. Only the phone number or email you choose is used locally to prefill an invite message.
Data we do not collect
- Payment or financial information
- Health or fitness data
- Browsing or search history outside the app
- Advertising or marketing identifiers
Verification selfies and face data
We ask for one live verification selfie so authorized LIVIN.ROOM reviewers can confirm you are a real person and keep the community safe. It is reviewed by a person on our team, not by software.
We do not collect or process face data. LIVIN.ROOM does not use face detection, face recognition, face tracking, liveness detection, or any other biometric identification technology. Your selfie is stored as an ordinary photograph. We do not create, derive, or store faceprints, face geometry, facial landmark data, biometric templates, or continuous camera frames.
Storage. The selfie is held in a private storage bucket that is not publicly accessible, hosted by our infrastructure provider Supabase in the United States. It never appears on your profile, is never shown to other members, and is never used for advertising, tracking, profiling, or training any model.
Sharing. Your verification selfie is stored by Supabase, our infrastructure provider, which holds it on our behalf as a data processor and does not use it for its own purposes. We do not sell, share, or disclose your selfie to anyone else. It is never sent to an identity-verification service, a facial-recognition service, an advertiser, or a data broker. The only people who view it are authorized LIVIN.ROOM reviewers.
Retention and deletion. We keep your verification selfie only as long as we need it to make a verification decision. It is deleted shortly after that decision, and never kept longer than 30 days from upload. If you delete your account first, it is deleted immediately along with your other uploaded media. Afterwards we keep only a record that your account was verified — never the image.
Your choices
- Account deletion — request deletion in the app under Settings → My Account
- Notifications — manage push permissions in your device settings and in-app preferences
- Location — you can deny location access; some features (nearby friends) may be limited
- Blocking and reporting — available on member profiles, in chat (⋯ menu and long-press on a message), and on someone else’s story (⋯ menu)
Children
LIVIN.ROOM is for adults 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
